Dr. Dawna Kramer, radiology quality assurance officer and section head of the patient access area in the radiology department at the Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, talks with host Dr. Beverly Hashimoto about the applications and inter-relationship of mammography and breast ultrasound in the diagnosis of breast masses. Dr. Kramer highlights the reasons mammography continues to account for the majority of breast mass detections. Dr. Dawna Kramer is a radiologist within the department of radiology, ultrasound section, and the breast imaging and quality assurance officer at the Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. Dr. Kramer received her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine, and completed a fellowship in ultrasound at Swedish Hospital Medical Center in Seattle. Dr. Kramer is a member of the American College of Radiology, and is noted for her leadership of fund-raising efforts to support cancer research and education.

Dr. Beverly Hashimoto practices as a radiologist at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, and specializes in mammography. She is also a clinical assistant professor at the University of Washington Medical School and the Seattle University School of Science and Engineering. Dr. Hashimoto received her medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine, and completed a fellowship in MRI and Ultrasound at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center. She is a past president of the Pacific Northwest Radiological Society and its current Washington councilor. Dr. Hashimoto is the author of the books, Breast Imaging: A Correlative Atlas and Practical Digital Mammography. She is also a fellow of the American College of Radiology, the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine, and the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound.
