SURG TECH-TRAVEL:
13 week contract; Day shift 7a-7p, 12 hr shifts. No call, no overtime, no night shift. An occasional weekend-shift possible (although not more frequently than every 5 weekends). 36 hours guaranteed.

Job Description:
Under the close supervision of a RN, participates as a member of the perioperative nursing team by performing direct and indirect perioperative nursing tasks for patients having pediatric, adult, and geriatric surgical and endoscopy procedures. Performs tasks related to picking supplies and equipment for surgical cases. Scrubs for minor/major/complex surgical procedures. Provides assistant circulator services for major/complex procedures. Transports patients. May be assigned to work in sterile processing department and/or operating room as required.
Under the close supervision of a qualified surgeon, the surgical technologist performs second assisting duties during the surgical procedures (holding retractors and passing instrumentation). Performs technical tasks other than cutting, clamping, and suturing tissues.
Knowledge of and the ability to use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments and ( medications, if credentialed to do so) as directed. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, employees, physicians and the public. Ability to assist the RN in the patient holding area and perform perioperative skin preparation tasks. Ability to precept new hire surgical technologists and/or RN’s learning scrub roles. Ability to assist with the application of casts and splints. Ability to perform OR environmental maintenance duties. Ability to perform all technical tasks that support clinical operations. The primary focus of this position is the scrub person, sterile processing functions, picking for surgical cases, and precepting role. |
