Under the supervision of a Nurse Manager or Coordinator, performs the following functions with patients of all ages: performs scrub functions; assists in circulating duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse; maintains professional growth and development through an ongoing process of formal and informal education; demonstrates a positive, concerned and sensitive response in the work place.
Job Requirements:
A strong background in orthopedics and ob/gyn preferred. Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology Program. Must be able to establish and maintain courteous and cooperative relations with patients and others contacted in the course of work. Ability to care for patients suffering from physical or emotional difficulties. Must be able to work under the pressure and stress of the O.R. environment. Must be able to lift and transport patients. Ability to work autonomously with minimal direction. Ability to be flexible in order to work on any surgical service as assigned. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions of working irregular hours.
