Since 1976, The Woman s Hospital of Texas has been the state s premier facility dedicated solely to the care of women and newborn infants. More women choose to have their babies at The Woman s Hospital of Texas than at any other hospital in the Houston area or Texas Medical Center. Over 9,642 babies are born here every year.

The Radiology Department at The Woman's Hospital of Texas provides a wide range of outpatient diagnostic ultrasound and other technologies including CT scans, nuclear medicine, echocardiography and radiography. The hospital is an acute-care hospital near the Texas Medical Center with 397 licensed beds offering a full range of medical services exclusively for women and infants.

POSITION SUMMARY:

1. Under the supervision of the Radiology Director and Manager of Imaging Services, responsible for the provision of quality Ultrasound Services to include OB/GYN, Abdominal, Breast, Small parts, Neurological, and limited vascular exams.

2. Recognizes the purpose of employment is to prioritize the patient as number one.

6. Demonstrates the ability to be an advocate for and strive to protect the health, safety and rights of the patient.

7. Interactions with patients and colleagues demonstrate compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth, and uniqueness of every individual, unrestricted by considerations of social or economic status or cultural beliefs.

8. Communicate effectively with other care providers (physicians, nurses, and satellite staff) to provide for continuity of patient care and to meet the needs of the customers we serve.

9. Demonstrates ability to fulfill requirements of attendance, punctuality, and timekeeping practices.

10. Behaviors and interactions demonstrate a positive attitude, personal initiative and motivation to achieve the goals of the unit.

11. To uphold the standards of the profession and organization and practice ethically and with integrity.

12. Travel to other satellite facilities as needed for staffing requirements

13. Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Education required and/or preferred:

REQUIRED: Graduate of an accredited School of Sonography or equitable on the job training.

Licensure/Certification

REQUIRED: ARDMS registered or Registry Eligible, CCI registration acceptable for vascular and echocardiography specialties.

Experience required or preferred:

REQUIRED: OB/GYN; Abdominal and Small parts

PREFERRED: Neurological and limited vascular experience

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

Must be able to demonstrate scanning skills in the above required areas.

Ability to plan work and complete assignments in a timely manner without close supervision. Reads and writes English with the skills necessary to translate physician's orders. Basic computer and typing skills. Knowledge of standard precautions. Ability to listen, empathize and respond to patient, internal and external partners needs.
